6. Device Logistics

6.1. Equipment needs

  • 1 Tablet per sub-district doing microplanning (costs ~ 250USD/tablet)

  • 1 Solar charger per health post without electricity (costs ~ 70USD/charger)

  • 1 protective casing per tablet (costs ~ 20USD/case)

  • Spare equipment (loss, theft, defect)

6.2. Tablet hardware specifications

  • Higher than Android 7

  • Screen of at least 10’’ with good resolution/dpi

  • minimum 4 GB of RAM, ideally 8 GB or more

  • 32 GB of internal storage

  • 8-cores CPU

  • GPS-chip

  • Bluetooth

6.3. Support and troubleshooting

6.3.1. 1st level support

Provided by the district focal persons

  • Manage sub-district focal person and equipment

  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues reported by sub-district focal persons

  • Escalate issues to province focal person, logistician and / or GMT Program Manager when and where needed

6.3.2. 2nd level support

Provided by the province focal person and / or GMT Program Manager

  • Manage district focal person and equipment

  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues reported by district focal persons

  • Escalate issues to peers, technical partner and / or the IT department when and where needed

6.3.3. 3rd and 4th level support

Provided by technical partner and / or the IT department

  • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform maintenance tasks and implement software upgrades/enhancements

6.4. Management of devices

Before any training can start, all devices should be in place. A logistics plan will be needed to keep track of all devices.

Ideally, the devices for each district can be distributed at the state level training, such that the district focal person can then distribute the devices to the sub-district focal persons at the district level training (see training schedule).
